The Sonya Levin's Story
Sonya Levin is a young performer & choreographer.
She is interested in any kind of art, but mostly in contemporary dance. She works as a freelancer and never stops researching.
S. & Mother Russia
S. was born in Moscow, the capital of a huge country - Russia. Having been living in that strange place, Sonya understood many things about life and found the motivation to move to Europe.
Dancing S.
At the age of 6 or 7 S. with her parents visited one of the ADF performances shown in Moscow and immediately she realised that she wanted to become a professional dancer.
Good S., Good Base
That year S. began to study dance at the «Alexander Shishkin Contemporary Dance School» in Moscow.
After graduation from that school she continued her education in the same direction but in another place - at the «Nokolay Ogryzkov School of Contemporary Dance» in Moscow as well. She also performed in repertoire pieces of Nokolay Ogryzkov.
This education with a lot of academical skills became really a good base for S.
S. & Butoh
After as she wanted to develop her body differently she studied Butoh technique at the «Anatoliy Vasilev School of Dramatic Art» with the laboratory of Min Tanaka (Japan).
S. & Summer
That was the time of big professional discoveries for S.: at the Moscow Summer Dance School «TsEKH» S. took numerous workshops of European, American & Russian teachers.
That experience opened her mind.
Since then every year S. has been participated in many somatic and performing laboratories led by brilliant teachers.
S. & Music
S. has a base knowing in music as she graduated from music school (piano class). That knowledge found out to be really helpful, though obtaining it was a bit hard.
S. in Europe
Finally S. had moved to Austria to study at "Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance" where she had graduated from in the year 2010.
Working S.
The time of practising came early. The time of using the knowledge.
First experience S. got already in Shishkin’s school - she danced in many pieces created by Alexander Shishkin.
She continued her performing practice with Nikolay Ogryzkov.
Then there was "Na.sH" Dance Theatre with the performance "Departure of the puppeteer". That project was more focused on theatrical approach.
The next dance company S. joined was “BDDС” - she acted in "Next to you" & other performances.
The big career step was when S. started working with “Po.V.S.Tanze” dance company: in the performances “Owen & Mzi” by Albert Albert & Alexandra Konnikova and "Probability Practice".
And the other big step was becoming a member of the “Monkey Production” multimedia company with two pieces: “My Body Is a Mobile Phone” & “Who Let the Birds Out?!”
S. Around the World
The pieces were performed at several festivals in Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Portugal, Czech rep. Lithuania.
S. Alone (Or S.+ S. face to face)
S. made several peaces by herself as a choreographer and performer such as:
«ZTM» («Black out») - solo performance 25 min
(2008);
«The Superman's Last Supper» - solo performance 19 min
(2009);
«The Day Before » - solo performance 10 min.

Teaching S.
S. was a teacher assistant of Dance Agency TsEKh's regular contemporary dance classes in Moscow.

S. is an artist in progress. Really into it.

S. is very open to creative art collaborations.
